Never Seen Things Like This

My goodness. Okay so, about a month ago YouTube "partnered" with 15 non-government organizations, including the "No Hate Speech Movement" and the "Anti-Defamation League". Because YouTube thinks people are very very stupid, they are going to let these organizations tell them what people should and shouldn't be allowed to watch. Specifically,

These organizations bring expert knowledge of complex issues like hate speech, radicalization, and terrorism that will help us better identify content that is being used to radicalize and recruit extremists.

With the result: certain videos that these 15 groups don't like will be de-monetized, which means people can't run ads on them, and people can't embed links to these videos in their web pages, and they can't comment on them, and they can't "like" them.

Yes, it is a "private company". YouTube is not a governmental organization. People are certainly free to post their content on different platforms. What can I say? the internet existed before 2005, and YouTube had the foresight and the know-how to build a platform where people could share videos on the internet. They grew carefully, they got bought by Google, grew some more and now they're the biggest, most well-known video platform in civilization. It's their site, and they get to decide what to do with it.

My beef is that I am deeply rankled by the notion that the "Anti-Defamation League, the No Hate Speech Movement, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue" among others think themselves worthy to decide how smart I am and what videos I should be allowed to watch.

The "public utility" argument has been made in this regard, e.g. "since Jared Taylor has said things people disagree with, he should have his electricity and water cut off." At this very moment, in America, things like that don't happen, e.g. Mr. Taylor or anyone else can't get their electricity cut off for their views because utilities are under government control and the government is beholden to the rights of its citizens. It certainly could happen, but for now it's not happening.

And all of this "de-platforming" is happening now solely because the political left is so incredibly butthurt that their stupid candidate lost in 2016 that they're throwing a tantrum. Statues that stood for more than a century have to come down because "hate". Certain people have to be disallowed from peacefully sharing their views because "hate".

I think the closest historical analog at this point is the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and the fervent desire of the Red Guards to smash the "Four Olds" - Old Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. This led to things like the desecration and looting of the Cemetery of Confucius in 1966.

Well, come to think of it, I'm seeing right now a cross between the Cultural Revolution and the Salem Witch Hunts. With some race hatred thrown in there, too. The progressive globalists are about "gotcha" politics, now, and outing people as "Nazi sympathizers". They're filled with self-righteousness and they will not blink at intentionally twisting your words; they're not bound by respect for the constitution. It's sick-making, is what it is.

Also right now outside my apartment it's like 7pm, the sun is 15 minutes from going down, it's 65 degrees and some dummy in an Ice Cream truck is driving around trying to cell ice cream by playing his stupid ice cream song.
